Temperatures are predicted to increase by 7 to 8 °F on average over the next 100 years, which may cause for certain species to become extinct or migrate. There are also theories that tropical rainforests will become dryer, causing the terrain to “die back" or that rainforests will become more seasonal and have periods of great rainfall and other periods of intense dry weather. Periods of time with high temperatures and little rainfall will cause many plants to die off and will greatly make water a scarce limiting factor to this ecosystem. The future change of temperature will also disturb the equilibrium that the plants and animals are in. If these organisms are not able to adapt to the weather, they may disappear from tropical rainforests.
