About Lear International Park
Lear International Park is located in Northern Brazil along the equator. It is one of the few remaining homes of the endangered Lear's Macaw, and the park is doing its best to preserve the existing population of this beautiful bird. Lear International Park is a relatively small park, at about 700 square kilometers.
Tropical rainforests are found near the Equator. About 57% of the rainforests in the world are found in Latin America, and the rest are found in Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, and West Africa. Tropical rainforests are known for being the rainiest biome on Earth, receiving 50 to 260 inches of precipitation each year, or at least 4 inches each month. At least half of the rainforest's precipitation comes from its own evaporated water, as its plants release water from their own leaves, a process known as transpiration. Despite the fact that there is an abundance of water and water vapor in the rainforest, very little of it ever reaches the ground, because most of it remains on the treetops high above the soil.
